Wisdom is not simple.

We all love a good recipe because it makes us look like a Top Chef. Just follow the steps precisely, and the result is great every time.

Recipes work in the kitchen because the ingredients, tools, and conditions are identical every time. Unfortunately, the conditions and ingredients of life outside the kitchen—particularly people—are different every time.

If wisdom were as simple as a recipe, any damn fool could live like Solomon.
